Mile High Music Festival 2009 Wrap-Up: Electric Touch
I got to the Mainstage (west) just in time to see the members of Electric Touch take the stage. Without warning they simply started into their set of Euro Dance Rock, maybe in the vein of a less electro, more mellow Does It Offend You, Yeah?. They seemed to be taking a to of hints from 80's New Wave bands in sense of style and melodrama, but cutting out the terrible production we're accustomed to when we imagine 80's pop. Their confidence and swagger on stage made it deftly evident why they were Main Stage material, as they quickly grabbed the attention of anyone vaguely walking around. The crowd at the beginning of the set nearly tripled by the end, with little help from happenstance. One of the more touching moments of the performance occurred when Shane, the lead singer sat down at the piano and mentioned that the next song was going to be a little emotional. He said that he had recently had his heart broken, and when someone behind me laughed, Shane jovially chuckled and asked who had laughed in a facetious tone. Someone else yelled out "she's a whore!", to which Shane responded "oh, so you know her?" laughing a little more. The tone got more serious as they started their new song "Tears in the Dark," but the tone wasn't so dark as to be inaccessible, which is key with sad songs. Anyway, these guys were fantastic, and getting a chance to interview them was a lot of fun (that'll be up tomorrow or the next day).
