Mile High Music Festival 2009 Wrap-Up: Gogol Bordello
Gogol Bordello is another act like Tool in that their act is fairly notorious, but not so much as Tool's is. Anyone who knows about Gogol knows about their epic shows, regardless of whether or not they've been. I'd heard stories of 5 hour shows, a variable circus on stage, and a multitude of other various wickedness in relation to their live show.
Well it was this and more, save for the 5 hours (because festivals have caps on that sort of thing if you're not the headliner). It was Gypsy Punk at it's finest. The entire crowd was hopping and gyrating and screaming and dancing and smiling and etc. etc. It was the most energetic performance I saw out of any of the bands or crowds. People of all ages and stereotypes were dancing around and having a grand time. It was like being transported back in time when, really, the only thing to do at night was go out and see the musicians do their thing. It was magic incarnate. Thank you Gogol Bordello for simultaneously classing up and trashing the festival :)
